October 15 - Interfaith History

October 15, 2011

The city of Haran, in southeastern Turkey, goes back 4400 years. On the edge of the Silk Route, it has been home to multiple faith traditions, often living next door to each other. According to biblical tradition, Abraham grew up here. The photo shows the ruins of Islam’s first university, which had an interfaith faculty. PHOTO: Don Frew
